Terminology

Insertion loss

“Insertion loss,” also referred to as “contact resistance,” represents the loss of signal that occurs at the contact points, especially in high-frequency scenarios. When the contacts are closed, signal loss can occur between them. This degree of signal loss is known as insertion loss and is measured in decibels (dB). A lower value of insertion loss indicates less loss and, consequently, better performance characteristics.
