Terminology

Return loss

“Return loss,” also known as “reflection loss,” occurs at points of electrical discontinuity where impedance matching is not achieved. At these points, reflections of high-frequency signals result in signal loss. Return loss is expressed in decibels (dB) and is defined as the ratio of the transmitted forward wave to the reflected wave.
